The dark rover ant (Brachymyrmex patagonicus) or DRA, has become a nuisance in certain parts of the Southern California in recent years. The workers are small and black, with 9-segmented antenna and erect hairs on their thorax. They form loose trails which are different from those of Argentine and fire ants. The workers invade interior spaces such as kitchens and alates swarm in various locations inside houses. Managing DRAs using baits is not always easy which may be frustrating to PMPs and homeowners. In this presentation, I will provide the results from my baiting study on this invasive species using several commercially available baits under different laboratory conditions.
