Issues with the generic characters of the Holarctic Batrisodes generic group (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Pselaphinae)

The genera and subgenera of the Nearctic fauna of the species-rich Batrisodes generic group (3 genera; 10 subgenera) have not been completely evaluated since their descriptions, nor thoroughly compared with those of the Palaearctic Realm. The characters useful for evaluation of these taxa are discussed and briefly characterized, with resulting proposal of five synonymies, new status for two taxa, with a better understanding of the relationships between the faunas of the Nearctic and Palaearctic Realms being established.
