Subterranean termites have historically posed significant threats to wooden structures. However, the development of advanced sampling techniques in 1973 marked a pivotal point in understanding their cryptic underground populations. These methods facilitated the study of termite foraging behavior, within-colony movement, and the evaluation of bait effects on termite colonies. This paper discusses several key studies that have contributed to the development and ongoing improvement of baiting technologies.
