The Oregon State Arthropod Collection, at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, is home to a sizeable acarological collection largely built up over the career of Dr. Gerald Krantz https://osac.oregonstate.edu. Recently, with help from a grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services, the collection has embarked on a project to conserve, rehouse, and provide digital online access to this collection. The project accomplished five primary goals: (i) to ensure all historical labels are affixed to the slides, (ii) to provision each slide with a unique identifier, (iii) to generate a digital online record and catalog of the collection that includes an image of the slide with labels, and (iv) to rehouse the entire collection in standardized slide boxes with working hardware. This presentation will provide an overview of OSAC’s acarological collection and review the methods and products generated by this project.
