To encourage behaviors that improve pollinator health, entomologists often seek to engage the public in conversations about science and the environment. While entomological researchers are often well-trained in environmental science and conservation, they lack training in strategies for effective, strategic communication to encourage behavior change. This lack of knowledge is a critical barrier for establishing empathetic, trusting, and cooperative relationships among environmental researchers and the lay public that motivate actions to promote pollinator health. This presentation will highlight key best practices of environmental communication, particularly regarding understanding your audience, emphasizing benefits, and being a credible and trustworthy source.
