Arthropod-borne diseases pose significant challenges to human health, having shaped history and remaining a persistent threat. This presentation explores strategies to engage undergraduate nonmajors in understanding the role of arthropods as disease vectors. By examining the biology, behavior, and ecology of key arthropod vector species, students gain valuable insights into the mechanisms of disease transmission. Employing various pedagogical approaches, including interactive learning experiences, real-world case studies, literature discussions, and “Chat with a Scientist” activities, enables us to demystify arthropods and foster curiosity, critical thinking, and appreciation among students pursuing majors outside entomology. Ultimately, this equips students with a broader understanding of entomology and its relevance to human health and everyday life.
