Working for UMass Extension as an entomologist is about more than providing educational support regarding insect pests of trees and shrubs. It is about empowering those we serve so that "people, when given facts they understand, will act not only in their self-interest, but also in the interest of society". Ultimately, the individuals we serve put science into practice. If they do not have access to all the information, we should be asking ourselves: what is research for?
