My evolution as a forest research entomologist: The Haverty effect

This presentation will review the evolution of my career as a research entomologist in the USDA Forest Service during a period of rapid environmental and socioeconomic change. The influence of Dr. Michael I. Haverty on my work will be highlighted as well as the value of mentorship to both mentees and mentors. Vignettes on science management and leadership and career skill development will be shared that may be useful, especially to students and early-career scientists.
