Who would have thought collecting termites could be so much fun? Dr. Haverty's sense of humor and contagious enthusiasm for the biology, ecology, and taxonomy of these organisms has made the past four decades of working together most entertaining, productive, and rewarding. Over the years we have collected specimens from far and wide, characterized their chemical phenotypes, and found differences which revealed the existence of several previously unknown termite species. I feel so very fortunate to have been a part of this important body of work, with Haverty as a mentor, supervisor, and friend.
