In this presentation, the director of the newly-acquired SEL microscopy facility will provide a summary of research activities and opportunities for collaboration at the Electron and Confocal Microscopy Unit (ECMU). The ECMU is a core facility located at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC), which specializes in fluorescence imaging and cryogenic Scanning Electron Microscopy (cryo-SEM). The research interests of the ECMU staff are focused on entomology and systematics, with a specialization in insect ultrastructure and micromorphology. Nonetheless, day-to-day research activities in the lab vary considerably, as the facility supports over two dozen active research projects from BARC alone in addition to other collaborations in the USA and abroad. Interested parties and stakeholders will be provided with contact information and details regarding use of the facilities and the microscopy capabilities of the ECMU.
