For a young woman, developing an urban IPM extension program from the ground up to serve majority male audiences offered plenty of challenges. It also resulted in significant opportunities and professional and personal rewards. The make-up of the pest management industry and extension has trended more female in the past two decades and there is a growing need for new urban entomologists in extension. This session will encourage a younger generation of women to consider urban pest management extension and leadership as a career option.
