It could be all about timing. That is one of the thoughts I regularly had in my early twenties. Why? Back then, I was presented with multiple directions to choose from, yet I needed to be wise and experienced enough to decide without fear of failing or regrets. Choosing entomology was a relatively easy choice; however, no one told me that a career as an applied entomologist would present many roadblocks. Often, I felt the energy and drive to charge forward, but I was afraid that I might choose the wrong path or if I was able to balance all. Having mentors who will guide you through the professional process is highly appreciated. This presentation will navigate the intricacies of balancing a career as an international scientist away from home.
