Mosquitoes are naturally attracted to the carbon dioxide exhaled by their hosts, therefore it is common to bait mosquito surveillance traps with a carbon dioxide source to increase sampling. In the United States, dry ice is a common dioxide source used alongside these traps, however a product like this is unobtainable in rural locations like western Uganda.The goal of this study was to determine alternative generative methods of producing carbon dioxide to enhance mosquito trapping, specifically with the CDC light trap.
