In West Virginia, the Appalachian tiger beetle (Cicendela ancocisconensis TW Harris) is classified as a priority 1 species (S1 G3) with only six known occurrences observed within the last 20 years. Population surveys are critical for understanding long-term viability of these known occurrence areas. We estimated the size and density of these populations using an innovative live capture technique developed by Taboada et al. (2012). Movement data is also discussed.
