When brown marmorated stink bug invaded the mid-Atlantic, it disrupted long-standing IPM programs in apple orchards. Growers routinely treated with broad-spectrum insecticides season-long and often abandoned IPM practices. As problems from brown marmorated stink bug have waned and are now principally limited to the late-season, other pests including the native plum curculio have become more problematic, particularly in the early season. Here, we present data on monitoring and management tools for both plum curculio and brown marmorated stink bug and discuss the need for enhanced integration of these practices into current IPM programs.
