The proposed symposium “Improving communication between researchers and stakeholders to reduce threats to pollinators” focuses on the challenges entomologists encounter when communicating research for improving pollinator health to broad audiences and stakeholders. Presenters in the symposium represent varying aspects of this challenge, from entomological or social science researchers, to regulators, to cooperative extension agents. These presenters are unified, however, in bridging gaps between pollinator health research and its communication to non-specialists who use this information in their everyday activities. The interdisciplinary research topics will range from toxicological analysis of pesticide impacts in agricultural landscapes, to tailoring agricultural messaging based on farmer identities, and the steps in between. Science communication is an underrepresented area of research in the field of entomology and the goal of this symposium is to bridge the gap between research and its key stakeholders by facilitating collaboration between researchers and science communicators.
