Insect science, or entomology, offers a unique opportunity to engage and inspire students in scientific fields, yet it remains underrepresented in the curriculum of many state colleges. In this presentation, I share my experience using entomology as a bridge to captivate students' interest and facilitate their understanding of complex scientific concepts. By incorporating intriguing insect facts at the beginning of classes and using insect stories as incentives, I have observed increased curiosity and motivation among students. These strategies not only pique students' interest but also provide relatable touchpoints for those new to scientific study, as everyone has encountered insects in their daily lives. Through these methods, entomology has proven to be an effective tool for fostering a deeper appreciation for science and nurturing the next generation of scientists.
