Perennial grain crops, compared to annual cereals, have several benefits that potentially contribute to crop resilience. Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), one of the top five cereals grown in the world, is currently under threat from an invasive pest, sugarcane aphid (SCA; Melanaphis sacchari). In this study, we investigated the natural variation in 50 perennial sorghum lines against SCA and identified varied levels of resistance to SCA in these lines.
