The use of insects in criminal investigations has been steadily increasing over the years due to their utility in providing valuable answers to investigators. Even though there has been an increase in their use there are still very large gaps in the information that is available to access when analyzing entomological evidence. Blow flies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) are some of the first colonizers to human remains and therefore one of the most valuable insects present. The data presented here will cover a checklist of blow fly species that have been associated with human remains across the United States with a cross comparison to the available literature of the species. Additionally, we will review other insects that are commonly present and have little information as well.
