The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the intramural research agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) which addresses basic scientific questions and develops applied solutions to a range of agricultural challenges. These efforts ensure an abundant, high quality, affordable, and secure source of food and other commodities for American consumers, and the continued competitiveness U.S. agricultural workforce. USDA-ARS positions are thusly focused on translation research that support American agriculture including farmers and ranchers, industry, and ultimately the consumer. This presentation will describe scientist's role and preparation of successful careers in ARS.
