The history of discrimination against the 2SLGBTQ+ community is extensive. While we have openly combated this discrimination in some environments, in others, like academia, it has been more subtle and thus more difficult to identify and address. Our field is not exempt from these challenges, especially for those of us dedicated to agricultural entomology and working with growers in rural areas. During this symposium, I will also discuss my efforts as a principal investigator to foster a more inclusive academic environment, highlighting the importance of representation for the generations to come.
