Seen on a social media post: “One day you will tell your story of how you’ve overcome what you’re going through now, and it will become part of someone else’s survival guide.” Being an Extension Specialist is richly rewarding but challenging as well. It may feel that even within our organizations, we are not valued at the same level as other types of faculty positions, but fear not! Extension can open doors to career opportunities and skills development that are not taught in the typical academic programs and lead to relationships that will endure. In Extension, you can be the key to someone else’s survival guide by being an excellent scientist who thrives on the desire to help others. Data and success stories from the existing programs will be included in this presentation.
